AYT? (Are You There?) - A dysfunctional technological love story

A cautionary tale featuring dancers… and their phones. A humorous statement on how technology, and cell phones in particular, inhibits our ability to communicate and appreciate one another. Premiered and filmed June 20, 2019 at the Diana Wortham Theatre, Asheville. 4 women and 3 men, 11 minutes

le suil go… (In the Hope That…)

One of the most beloved of Terpsicorps’ repertoire, Le Suil Go… is a tour de force of stamina, athleticism and beauty. Created in tribute to the Celtic people, known for their fierce will and eye for beauty, the work is a prayer for peace and harmony in a challenging world. Premiered by the Nashville Ballet in 2003. This video is from June 20, 2018 at the Diana Wortham Theatre, Asheville. 3 women and 3 men, 14 minutes

THE DATE

Originally created for a New Years’ Eve party in 2009, this piece was reworked and introduced to the concert stage for Terpsicorps’ 2021 Season, OUTSIDE. Following a couple along the downward spiral caused by one, or maybe 10, drinks too many, The Date was an instant audience favorite and is bound to make repeat appearances for years to come. Premiered and filmed June 18th, 2021 at the Foundy, River Arts District, Asheville, NC.

HUNGER

At the root, we are all hungry. Most of us not in the strict use of the term, but we all have something that we crave. Deep within the human soul lies an emptiness that screams to be fed. For some it is a desire for love, for others acceptance. Maybe your hunger calls out for power, spiritual enlightenment, money or fame. Maybe it is darker. Some hungers can be satiated while others simply reside within us, guiding our lives. Told through vignettes that range from funny to shocking, HUNGER inspires the audience to contemplate the force of their own desires and envision how a need for something as basic as food and water would alter their lives. Premiered and filmed June 26, 2014 at the Diana Wortham Theatre, Asheville. It was restaged during the summer of 2019 with performances at the Diana Wortham Theatre, Asheville and the Hanesbrands Theatre, Winston-Salem, NC. 8 women and 6 men, 45 minutes

Second Line

Second Line, a staple of the Terpsicorps repertoire, was created shortly after Hurricane Katrina as a testament to the resiliency of the citizens of New Orleans, and the strong place that music and dance hold in the vibrancy of the historic city. A Second Line is what the dancers are called who follow the musicians in a New Orleans Jazz Funeral procession. It's inspiring, poignant, and athletic. Some of the movements were taken directly from Second Line dancers who were filmed at the first Mardi Gras after Katrina. Premiered and filmed August 7, 2008 at the Diana Wortham Theatre, Asheville NC. 4 women and 3 men, 24 minutes
